The average allowable elevator cab weight increase is usually between 200 to 500 pounds. This weight increase is very minimal and will limit upgrade options especially if you want to replace laminate panels to glass or remove carpet and add stone. Remember, elevator cab interiors are part of a complex moving system. The elevator car must level properly and adding weight will require adjustment to rebalance the cab.
