South Carolina Elevator Code Authority
Authorities having jurisdiction are those government officials who are the final authority on questions in a particular area (or jurisdiction). Created in 1986, the Office of Elevators and Amusement Rides administers the South Carolina Elevator Code and the South Carolina Amusement Ride Safety Code. Special Inspectors, who are licensed by the Department of LLR but are not employees of the agency, conduct inspections of new and existing elevator facilities, amusement rides, and bungee jumps to assure compliance with the codes. LLR employs a team of auditors who travel the state to randomly review the work performed by the Special Inspectors. (excerpt from state website)
