Wisconsin Elevator Code Authority
Authorities having jurisdiction are those government officials who are the final authority on questions in a particular area (or jurisdiction).
The Department of Safety and Professional Services Elevator Inspection Section oversees all elevators in the State. Elevator, lift, escalator, and dumbwaiter inspections are provided by Industry Services Division staff and independent certified inspection agencies ( Who does what? - More information on the inspection system ). IS also examines plans, offers consultation, issues certificates of operation, offers education, and monitors those independent inspectors. The bureau also performs plan reviews of elevators, boilers and private onsite wastewater treatment systems. The bureau is also responsible for auditing third party and municipal inspection agencies.Elevator inspector credentials are administered by IS.. (excerpt from state website)
